Local Ties Senior Advisors is an independent senior placement and care planning practice in Portland, Oregon, run by Tom McCahan, a registered Oregon long-term care referral agent (Certificate #2443).
I've come across too many families who just don't know what to do. Not where to go, not who to call, not what resources even exist. Good people, doing their best, with the biggest decision of their lives in front of them and nobody to ask. I started Local Ties for them.
I come from the home care industry. I went into people's homes, did the assessments, and got to know what each family needed. A lot of the time it was a husband or wife doing the caregiving, or a son or daughter, sometimes a neighbor. They loved the person they were caring for, and they were burning out. Home care helped a lot, but it wasn't enough.
Local Ties is that same work from a bigger perspective. Now I can help with every avenue:
- Building a plan to stay home safely
- Connecting you with the resources you need
- Being an outside voice for the hard family conversations
- Finding the right community, if that's what's needed
I also set the company up on purpose. Before you decide anything, I'll walk you through how I get paid and where my incentives are, so you can weigh my advice knowing that.
